True Crime: BWF Events
By Denise Mina, James Phelps, and more.
Maybe your a fan of the true crime podcasts keeping you up at night or maybe you're just a history buff, either way these True Crime BWF events are for you!
First up we have the Australian Heist, the true story of Australia's greatest gold robbery. Written by James Phelps, an award-winning senior reporter at the Daily Telegraph and Sunday Telegraph in Sydney, Phelps takes us on a journey through the famous robbery of 1862 in Eugowra, just east of Fobres, NSW. The gang of bushrangers escaped with 77 kilograms of gold -- worth about $10 million today! Phelps discusses his latest effort with Cathy McLennon on 8 Sept at 7:30pm.
After a restful sleep, come on out to BWF on 9 Sept at 1130am for another true crime story or two at the Second Sight/The Long Drop event. Featuring tartan noir and crime writing extraordinaire, Denise Mina, and bestselling writer Aofie Clifford as they present The Long Drop and Second Sight. In The Long Drop, Mina explores the "trail of the century" in 1950s Glasgow, about the serial killer Peter Manuel. Clifford writes about crime and secrets in an Aussie town -- a story of lost friendships and terrible betrayal. Chaired by Ben Hobson, this crime discussion is not to be missed.
