Mission
Founded in 1962, BWF is the oldest continuous writers’ festival in Australia. Featuring a diverse array of author panels, speeches, performances and more, BWF seeks to connect communities while showcasing ideas, creativity and well-crafted words.
#Our Values
01
Writing and Storytelling
We champion the very best writers working in every genre, from the world famous to those just starting their literary careers.
02
First Nations First
We advocate a self-determined approach to sharing First Nations stories through dedicated Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander curated program streams.
03
Care
Whether it's our artists or our audiences, the BWF team is dedicated to ensuring the best festival experience, and creating a warm, welcoming atmosphere for all involved.
04
Curiosity
Each time we open a book or listen to a story, we embark on a new adventure; we want attending BWF to replicate that same feeling of excitement and possibility.
05
Sustainability
We are focussed on ensuring the long-term sustainability or the festival for future generations of readers and writers.
