We’re thrilled to unveil the shortlist of outstanding works in contention for the 2026 Queensland Literary Awards (QLAs). This year, more than $200,000 in prize money will be awarded across 12 categories.
We’d like to offer a hearty congratulations to all of this year's talented shortlisted authors, and a fulsome thank you to all of the hardworking judges.
The Queensland Literary Awards showcase outstanding authors from across Australia, celebrating emerging and established authors across a range of genres. Brisbane Writers Festival is proud to manage the Awards in collaboration with sponsors, the literary community, and industry partners.
The Queensland Literary Awards are supported by the Queensland Government through Arts Queensland, sponsors, grants, and philanthropic donations.

- Entries open Tuesday 31 March 2026
- Entries close 5pm AEST Thursday 30 April 2026
- Shortlists announced Wednesday 29 July 2026
- People's Choice voting closes 5pm AEST Thursday 10 September
- QLAs ceremony will be held on Thursday 8 October 2026
