We Need to Talk About Literary Culture

Mindy Gill is an award-winning poet, editor, and critic, and Australian Book Review's fifth Rising Star. Her debut collection, Confessions, won the 2025 Thomas Shapcott Poetry Prize and is forthcoming with UQP in 2027.

Julian is Professor of Creative Arts at Griffith University and a Fellow of the Australian Academy of Humanities. He has directed over 40 award-winning professional theatre productions, and published numerous books and articles on Australian arts and culture.

Raeden Richardson is a novelist and essayist. His first novel, The Degenerates (2024) was nominated for the Miles Franklin Literary Award, the Voss Literary Prize and the ALS Gold Medal. His writing has appeared in Griffith Review, Meanjin, Kill Your Darlings, The Sydney Morning Herald and New Australian Fiction. He is a graduate of the Iowa Writers’ Workshop. His writing has been supported by Creative Australia, the American Australian Association and the Ian Potter Cultural Trust. He is currently working on his second novel.

Darby Jones is the Editorial Assistant at Griffith Review and a bookseller at Cursive Knives. He is an alumnus of the black&write! Indigenous Writing and Editing Project and the Open Book Internship and has dedicated his career to diversifying the publishing industry.

Carody Culver is the editor of Griffith Review. She's also a writer and a literary interviewer. Her work has appeared in Australian Book Review, Meanjin, Sydney Review of Books, Kill Your Darlings, Books+Publishing and more, and she's been a contributing editor for Peppermint magazine.
