UPLIT is very proud to welcome Brownyn Lea as a new Board Member to the organisation.
Bronwyn, an Associate Professor in the School of Communication in the Arts at the University of Queensland, is the author of four books of poems including Flight Animals, The Wooden Cat and Other Poems, The Other Way Out, and most recently The Deep North: A Selection of Poems. Her poems are widely anthologised, appearing most recently in Thirty Australian Poets, Australian Poetry Since 1788, Sixty Classic Australian Poems, and The Penguin Anthology of Australian Poetry. As a literary critic and editor, Bronwyn reviews poetry, fiction, and nonfiction for a number of literary pages and is currently the poetry editor at Meanjin.
Bronwyn has worked as a consultant and expert to numerous key organisations in the creative industries at a state and federal level, including:
· Australia Council for the Arts Literature Board
· Australia Council International Marketing Development Program
· Queensland Department of the Premier and Cabinet
· Queensland Government Department of State Development
· Arts Queensland
“Brownyn has been a wonderful contributor to, and advocate for, the literary sector,” says UPLIT Chief Executive Officer and Artistic Director Zoe Pollock. “Not only has Brownyn been a regular attendee at the Brisbane Writers Festival for many years, but she has participated as a speaker on numerous occasions. Her experience will be of great benefit to the events and projects UPLIT will present in the near future.”
