By the time Tahlia Isaac was 29 years old, she’d survived years cycling in and out of prison and a decade of addiction. Now, this remarkable criminologist and social justice advocate has gathered the stories of 20 women who are rebuilding their lives after prison. One of these incredible survivors, Rocket Bretherton, will be joining her on stage for this very special BWF event. She Is Me is not only a nuanced and empathetic portrait of the factors that shape women’s trajectories into crime and incarceration – it’s also a powerful and passionate rallying cry to reform our justice system and strengthen our social contract.

Trent Dalton is a two-time Walkley Award–winning journalist and the international bestselling author of Boy Swallows Universe, All Our Shimmering Skies, Love Stories, Lola in the Mirror and Gravity Let Me Go. Tahlia Isaac
Tahlia brings both professional expertise and lived experience to the national conversation on women and the criminal justice system. She is formerly incarcerated, the founder of Project:herself and has a post graduate in criminology and criminal justice.
Rocket Bretherton
Rocket Bretherton is a proud Noongar woman, nationally recognised speaker and advocate whose lived experience has become a powerful force for justice reform, mental health advocacy, and social change. Once told by a judge that there was no hope for rehabilitation, Rocket has defied every expectation — transforming a life once marked by incarceration and addiction into one of purpose, leadership, and impact.
