The best stories take you on a journey that captivates you from start to finish. Author and poet Steven Herrick shares how, through the power of storytelling, you can hook your readers, get them to connect with your characters, and keep them absorbed in the world of your story.

Steven Herrick
Steven Herrick is the author of twenty-six books for children and young adults. His books have twice won the NSW Premier's Literary Awards and been shortlisted for the CBCA Book of the Year Awards on nine occasions. He is widely regarded as a pioneer of the verse-novel genre. In 2019, his YA verse-novel by the river won the prestigious German Youth Literature Award in translation. He was born in Brisbane and lives in the Blue Mountains.
