Kathy Hoopmann
Kathy Hoopmann has written over twenty books for children and adults, with translations into fourteen languages. Her work sells widely in Australia, the UK, the US and the Middle East. She has won, and been shortlisted for many literary awards, including the Children’s Book Council of Australia Award and has four times received a Nautilus Award (US) which is granted to ‘books that change the world’. Kathy is best known for her photo illustrated books 'All Cats Have Asperger Syndrome', 'All Dogs Have ADHD' and 'All Birds Have Anxiety'. The latter won a silver Nautilus Award and a silver medal in the Living Now Awards (US) and 1000 copies were given away by the Charlie Waller Memorial Trust (UK) to promote awareness of mental Illness. The simplicity, charm and insight of Kathy’s photo books have made them must-haves for children and adults worldwide. Her latest children’s novel, 'The Secret Science Society’s Spectacular Experiment', co-written with Josie Montano, explores and celebrates the strength and weaknesses of children with a variety of diagnoses. In 2018, Kathy was awarded the Creative Futures Recognition Award for services to the Autism Community in Queensland.
