Robinson is one of the most successful Australian artists of his generation. In 2007, the artist was appointed an Officer of the Order of Australia for his outstanding achievements and service to the arts. In 2009, the William Robinson Gallery was opened to honour his life and work, the only gallery of its kind in Australia dedicated solely to the work of a single artist. A major retrospective was held at the gallery in 2011, alongside the release of William Robinson: The Transfigured Landscape, the first major monograph on the artist since 2001.
Robinson’s work has been the subject of more than 43 solo exhibitions and he is represented in some 33 public collections in Australia, New Zealand, the United States, and Vatican City.
