Gabbie Stroud is a freelance writer and novelist. After nearly 20 years in education, she describes herself as a ‘recovering teacher’. Her critical commentary of Australia’s education system was published in Griffith Review’s Edition 51: Fixing The System. Links to the essay went ‘viral’ on social media and the essay was viewed 24 000 times within the first two weeks of publication.
Since then, Gabbie has been a guest on The Drum and in Conversation with Richard Fidler. Her essay was shortlisted for a Walkley Award. Her latest book – Teacher - is Gabbie’s memoir, expanding on her essay and bringing readers into today’s challenging classroom.
Gabbie has also published a Young Adult fiction Measuring Up (Scribe 2009) and writes for South Coast Style Magazine and ABC News Online.
