Gabrielle Stroud
Gabbie Stroud is a freelance writer and novelist. After nearly 20 years in education, she describes herself as a ‘recovering teacher’. Her critical commentary of Australia’s education system was published in Griffith Review’s Edition 51: Fixing The System. Links to the essay went ‘viral’ on social media and the essay was viewed 24 000 times within the first two weeks of publication.
Since then, Gabbie has been a guest on The Drum and in Conversation with Richard Fidler. Her essay was shortlisted for a Walkley Award. Her latest book – Teacher - is Gabbie’s memoir, expanding on her essay and bringing readers into today’s challenging classroom.
Gabbie has also published a Young Adult fiction Measuring Up (Scribe 2009) and writes for South Coast Style Magazine and ABC News Online.

Prof Judith McLean
Professor Judith McLean is currently Chair Arts Education (QUT/QPAC) and Scholar-in-Residence (QPAC). She has extensive Board experience and is currently a company Director at Queensland Tourism and Events. In this role, Judith chairs the events business which focuses on sport, lifestyle, arts and cultural policy and practice (2009-). She was also on the board of Asia Pacific Screen Awards (2009-2013); Chair, Southern Cross Soloists (2009-2015); Inaugural Chair of Major Brisbane Festivals Pty Ltd (2003-2007) and Chair & Board Member of Queensland Theatre Company (1995-2004).
Judith works in the performing arts, events and education areas as an educator, director, executive coach and company director. Over the past 13 years she has led management and executive leadership programs in corporate settings, including the health, defence, financial, media and public sectors.
Her position as Chair in Arts Education and Scholar in Residence is a joint appointment between QPAC and QUT’s Creative Industries Faculty. She is responsible for leading the development and execution of the educational strategy and engagement presented at QPAC; contributing to the programming of educational strategy; reviewing, critiquing and building a broader education framework around QPAC’s program of presentations and activities, including Out of the Box (OOTB); and leading executive development workshops across corporate, government and non-government sectors.
