Stand with Ellen

This week a number of HSC students engaged in a social media attack on talented Indigenous poet, and Brisbane Writers Festival regular, Ellen van Neerven, following a question in their exam inviting them to analyse Ellen’s poem Mango.

UPLIT wishes to acknowledge Ellen’s contribution to the Queensland literary sector, both through her award-winning writing, and her involvement as an editor, educator, and industry and diversity advocate. UPLIT champions the literary arts and in particular the diverse talent we cultivate here in Queensland. We strive to foster respectful and informed debate. 

We are proud to stand with Ellen.

There is no better way to support quality writing than by engaging directly with it and encouraging others to do so. An informed society is an empowered one.
