Experience literature in a new way through this stunning installation inspired by Jessica Anderson’s Miles Franklin award winning novel Tirra Lirra by the River. Drawing inspiration from the text and the passionately evoked Queensland setting, multi award winning local designer Anna Spiro has created a bespoke hub for Brisbane Writers Festival. Anna is one of Australia’s most lauded design icons. Her works include a mix of residential and commercial projects – including restaurant interiors for the acclaimed Howard Smith Wharves development.
Join us at State Library of Queensland to experience this beloved literary work brought to life. At Tirra Lirra by the River you can catch up with friends between sessions, browse and buy books from our award-winning authors and soak up the Festival atmosphere. Special free events including craft workshops and open mic sessions will be held in the installation - check back over the coming months for details for all the free activities happening. Check the Festival timings for details of a very special session paying tribute to Tirra Lirra by the River. Tirra Lirra by the River is made possible through the generous support of the Taylor family.
