2022 Program Updates
Changes to the program may happen due to external circumstances. BWF will be in touch with ticket holders for individual sessions.
- Mana Wahine (online event) will no longer be going ahead.
- The Arbornaught (Saturday, May 7, 10am, slq Auditorium 1) has now moved to an online event.
- NEW event: Talkin' Up To The White Woman 20 years On (Thursday, May 5, 1pm, kuril dhagun) Aileen Moreton-Robinson and Bronwyn Fredericks In Conversation.
- A Published Event (Friday, May 6, 2:30pm, slq Auditorium 2) has now moved to a LIVE online event.
- Behind the Cover (Sunday, May 8, 11:30am, slq kuril dhagun) has now moved to an online event.
- Jack of Hearts (Saturday 7, May 7, 10am, slq kuril dhagun) has moved time and location to Saturday, May 7, 4pm, slq Queensland Terrace. This remains a free event.
- NEW workshops: Mastering Emotional Honesty (Saturday, May 7, 1pm) with Lee Kofman; Writing A Novel: The First Steps (Sunday, May 8, 9am) with Kristina Olsson and Emily O'Grady; and Building Your Creative Muscle (Sunday, May 8, 1pm) with Kathleen Jennings. All workshops are held in the slq Heritage Collections Learning Room and run for three hours.
- Great Ocean Oratures and Digital Territories (online event) will no longer be going ahead.
- NEW event: The Avoidable War (Saturday, May 7, 10am, slq Auditorium 1) Kevin Rudd and Steve Austin In Conversation.
- Pig City (Tuesday, May 3, 6:30pm, The Zoo) has moved to a new venue: Metro Arts New Benner Theatre.
- Show Ponies is now on Thursday and Friday only.
- Lore (Wednesday, May 4, 2:30pm, slq Auditorium 2) has moved time and location to Sunday, May 8, 11:30am, slq Queensland Terrace.
- Te reo Māori Storytime (Friday, May 6, 11:30am, and Saturday, May 7, 11:00am, both in slq The Studio) will no longer be going ahead.
- (un)Bite Your Tongue (Friday, May 6, 1pm, slq The Edge) has moved time and date to Sunday, May 8, 11:30am, slq The Edge.
- Sweet Jimmy: Bryan Brown (Wednesday, May 4, 4pm, slq The Edge) will no longer be going ahead. Due to unforeseen personal circumstances, Bryan Brown will no longer be attending Brisbane Writers Festival. Stay tuned for a new date with Bryan later in 2022.
- All Tomorrow Is A Brand-New Day events have been cancelled as the artists are no longer able to travel.
- All events scheduled in The Studio, level 1, State Library, have now been moved to The Parlour, level 1, State Library.
- All events scheduled in The Edge Auditorium, have now been moved to the Maiwar Green Marquee, State Library.
