Author/Editor #02: Maxine Beneba-Clarke & Robert Watkins

Maxine Beneba Clarke is the author of the bestselling short fiction collection Foreign Soil, the critically acclaimed memoir The Hate Race, and the award-winning poetry collection Carrying The World. 

Robert Watkins, Publishing Director of Ultimo Press, has over 20 years experience in the Australian book industry having worked in book retail, sales, marketing, publicity, publishing and most recently as Head of Literary at Hachette Australia. 

Maxine and Robert will discuss their working relationship across multiple books and genres, focusing on the aforementioned titles, and touching on the issues of working with an emerging writer and representing BIPOC experience and backgrounds in Australian books.
